Pufferfish
Pufferfish Surf Pavilion design proposal for the sport’s first appearance in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. History has left us with abandoned mammoth sports venues forgotten by the hosting cities in the wake of the games. The design for this surf pavilion was focused on performing under changing circumstances. It strives to minimise its construction footprint and visual bulk whilst supporting the Olympic Games program, events, and occupier capacity. This calls for reactive architecture.
Developed during a design studio in a group setting with Li Liu and Ethan Wang.
Due to the nature of waves and wind, surfing is an unpredictable sport. Pufferfish surf pavilion strives to respond to this fluidity with a reactive design.
